Financial services: an offshore perspective. Guernsey, 20 September 2013
We are fortunate to have secured the Royal Court Chamber in St Peter Port for this timely and highly topical event. During the day we also hope to have an opportunity to see the Royal Court in action. There will be a main working session on financial services with speakers offering perspectives from the EU institutions, the UK and the Channel Islands. Confirmed speakers include Alastair Sutton QC who spent many years at the European Commission before returning to the Bar at Brick Court Chambers via White & Case. We will also host a shorter session on other aspects of cross-border dispute resolution work between the UK and Guernsey. The event will be timed to enable people to arrive and depart on the day, with the option of staying on the Island before or after the event if they wish.

European Circuit Annual Conference – The Hague – 14-16 November 2013
This year’s Annual Conference will be held in the Hague from 14 to 16 November in collaboration with the Netherlands Bar, the Advocatenorde. As usual we kick off with welcome drinks on the evening of Thursday 14 November. We will visit one of the international institutions on Friday morning. The main conference sessions – which this year include discussions on advocacy in international tribunals and developments in cross-border criminal law and practice – will take place on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. We are very pleased that the UK judge on the ICJ, Christopher Greenwood, has kindly agreed to give the keynote address. There will be a conference dinner on Friday evening.
