Workshop on: Influencing the Course of EU Legislation
Many if not most areas of UK legislation are influenced by principles of EU law, either directly as in employment law or indirectly as in family law or commercial law. The range of EU measures now enxtends to criminal law with a topical example being the framework decision on the European Arrest Warrant.
This workshop aims to give the Bar an understanding of the EU legislative process. Thre is now a specific Bar EU Committee charged with monitoring developments within the EU and the workshop will examine the sort of issues which could usefully be addressed by this Committee. It will also highlight the posts within the EU in which barristers are to be found.
